Over the years on staff at YOKE, one of John Coatney’s favorite verses has stayed with me deeply: Matthew 9:37-38. “Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'”
This verse has both challenged and encouraged me, especially in my role recruiting YOKE Folk volunteers. For every 15 people I ask, maybe one bravely says “yes.” Sometimes, it feels daunting—as if people see me coming and run the other way.
But then the Lord gently reminds me: the key part of this verse is “ask the Lord of the harvest.” He is the one who has faithfully provided YOKE leaders for schools time and time again.
That’s why I’m asking you to join me in prayer. Please pray that God would send more YOKE leaders. Schools like Northwest and Cedar Bluff in Knoxville, and Robertsville/Jefferson in Oak Ridge have been without YOKE leaders since COVID shut things down. Meanwhile, new schools such as Norwood in Anderson County and Washburn in Grainger County are eager to start YOKE programs.
We are facing a particularly difficult struggle in Blount County and need your help. Where we once had 7 teams serving, we have zero committed for this fall. Who do you know that loves students and would make a great YOKE Folk? Is there a church or pastor we should reach out to? Let me know!
Most importantly, would you join me in praying that the Lord of the harvest would raise up workers in Blount County? If someone comes to mind, please contact me at 865-386-3313 or stephanie@yokeyouth.com.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can help bring God’s love to the next generation.
