YOKE wrapped up another successful camp season at the end of October. Olympic Camp was a hit with YOKE Folk and YOKE Kids alike. Middle school students and their YOKE Folk represented their middle schools competing in Olympic style challenges earning points for their teams. One great addition to this camp program was a scripture memorization challenge. At the end, schools with the highest points won the coveted gold, silver, and bronze medals to take back to their communities.

Future Folk, YOKE’s leadership training program for high school students who want to stay connected to the ministry, is thriving! For the first time in years, YOKE has Future Folk programs in every county we serve. At this year’s camp, Future Folk from each county were on hand to serve in the kitchen, help with the games and activities, and continue growing spiritually and developing their leadership skills.

YOKE Alumni (YFL?) were well represented again serving as speakers, cooks, medical staff, Camp Director, and participating as part of the truck brigade hauling luggage to and from camp. Alumni were also instrumental in taking care of the Amazon wish list of program supplies needed. That was such a huge blessing and savings to YOKE. We look forward to increasing alumni involvement at camp in the future!

Finally, some other positive outcomes…

  1. Several schools took large numbers of kids to camp. South Doyle took the largest number of kids and YOKE Folk to camp. It was the largest number South Doyle has had at camp in over 20 years. Union Grove and Carter also brought large groups.
  2. Our oldest YOKE Folk attended camp, slept in bunkbeds in the cabins, hiked the hills, and at age 72 was a hit with all the kids. It just goes to show that you are never too old to serve when God calls you to! (Read more about Judi here.)
  3. 6 kids that we know of made first-time decisions to follow Jesus while others recommitted their lives to Him. One group of YOKE kids expressed interest in starting a Bible study with their YOKE Folk.
  4. YOKE gave away so many Bibles to students that we had to order more!
