Once again, YOKE partnered with Camp BaYoCa for a week of middle school camp this July. YOKE staff, under the leadership of program director Madjoel Douglass, helped train camp counselors. 41 students from 6 different YOKE clubs participated in this year’s camp.

Each day, YOKE staff were on hand to help with activities like canoeing and swimming, cooking Hobo Stew, and field games. Each night after dinner, YOKE staff led traditional YOKE club activities, including Chug-n-Crush, a favorite with all the students.

Blount County Alumni Keith Allmon, now a Kids Pastor at First Baptist Sevierville, was the camp speaker for the week. Several YOKE alumni also had kids attending camp and/or serving as camp counselors for the week. Two alumni came up to judge the talent competition. On Thursday evening, more YOKE alumni came to visit.

It was a great week at Camp BaYoCa and middle school students were able to deepen their relationships with each other and their faith in Christ. Carter Brown, another YOKE alumni who now serves as Camp BaYoCa’s director said, “Camp provides a special opportunity for kids to get away from their normal schedule, their phones, and their everyday lives and reconnect and refocus spiritually.”

Thanks to everyone who supported this year’s camp through prayers and financial support.
