Makenzey and Mikayla Moore have been involved with YOKE for most of their lives. Starting as YOKE Kids in middle school, they stayed connected through YOKE’s high school leadership development program, and began serving as YOKE Folk during their time at the University of Tennessee. Now, having graduated and started their careers, they credit the ministry, and especially their experiences at camp, with who they are today.

“We started attending YOKE as 6th graders at Karns Middle School,” recalls Makenzey. “I had attended church my whole life, but through YOKE I was challenged to start a relationship with Jesus. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow.”

“When I was in middle school, I looked forward to YOKE each Tuesday,“ adds Mikayla. “I wasn’t the most outgoing kid, but at YOKE I always felt loved, accepted, and included.”

Though the sisters love everything about YOKE, their eyes really light up when they talk about their camp memories.

“Our club was small back then, so almost the whole group went to camp,” says Makenzey. “I developed relationships then that I still have today.”

For many kids like Makenzey and Mikayla, camp is a truly life changing experience. Both girls now work in the nonprofit world and both still serve as YOKE Folk at Karns Middle.

“I am proof that YOKE works,” says Makenzey. “Without YOKE in my life, I doubt I would have the relationship with Jesus that I have now, I don’t think I would have ever gone on a mission trip, and I probably would not have chosen a career working with middle school students. YOKE Camp is where that all started.”

Mikayla adds, “I chose to be a YOKE Folk because I want every single one of my YOKE kids to feel accepted and to know the love of Christ like I do now.”

Spring camp is just around the corner and many kids, like Makenzey and Mikayla, will need financial assistance to attend. Would you consider a gift to change the life of a middle school student? The cost to send a kid to camp is approximately $125. Your gift could help in the following ways:

  • $125 – sponsor one YOKE kid
  • $250 – sponsor one YOKE and their YOKE Folk
  • $500 – sponsor a cabin of YOKE kids
  • $1,000 – sponsor the cost of a whole YOKE club

When you give to YOKE, you’re investing in the life-changing ministry of the gospel. Like most of the 300 students that attended YOKE camp last fall, the sisters would not have been able to attend camp without the generous support of partners like you.

Mail your gift to YOKE at P.O. Box 3492, Knoxville, TN 37927 or make a secure gift online anytime at yokeyouth.com/give. All gifts to YOKE are tax deductible.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
