Summer Adventure trips are over, kids are back in school, and YOKE clubs are just around the corner! The YOKE staff is hard at work communicating with our local schools, reaching out to new middle school students and preparing for YOKE Clubs to start back the week of September 19th. We have spent the summer in prayer and preparation for the upcoming weeks and are so excited to see what God is going to do through YOKE’s ministry this year.

As we approach the launch date for our 2016-2017 club year we ask that you pray with us as we recruit additional YOKE Folk and Team Leaders for our after-school ministry. If you love middle school students, have fond memories of camp, a heart for sharing Christ with others, and 3-5 hours a week available, then YOKE just might be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!

“I got involved because I wanted to make a difference,” said Gresham Middle Team Leader Astrid Martinez. “YOKE made a huge impact in my sister’s life and I wanted to be that person for middle school students.”

Serving on a YOKE team is an invaluable experience that connects young adult mentors to middle school students during some of the most difficult years of their young lives.
“I became a YOKE Folk because I wanted the students at our club to go through middle school knowing that someone understood, loved, and was there for them,” said Knox County YOKE Folk Sarah White.

Currently, YOKE is recruiting YOKE Folk for all of our schools, but is specifically in need of Team Leaders for our Bearden, Northwest, and Whittle Springs Middle Schools in Knox County, Heritage Middle in Blount County, and Jefferson Middle in Jefferson County.

“I became Team Leader last school year and I am loving it,” said Astrid. “I’m responsible for communicating with the team, gathering supplies for club, and building relationships with my kids and YOKE Folk.”

Our Team Leaders are absolutely invaluable to our mission, and without them clubs are not always able to open. Our prayer over the next few weeks is that every spot will be filled and no school will go a single week without YOKE club due to a lack of volunteers.
